Wednesday 22 February....

Good Morning Misfits! It's going to be 61 degrees and sunny in St. Louis today and for February that is a miracle.
No more walls.. It's time to get out. Go! Go on! Get on it! If you are in a church every Sunday and not a part of a ministry outside of the 4 walls of your church building that is bad. If Jesus had to choose between stained glass and getting out among His people it should be obvious which one He would choose.

Please be praying for an upcoming trip we will be taking to Keosaugua, IA on march 9th to " have a little church ". The details of that trip will be finalized early next week and I'll post them asap. The below link a great song to get you started for today...

Wednesday 15 February....

Rick Matteson called me yesterday with a great example of living out His word. Rick was in a parking lot getting ready to pull in to a parking spot and a guy whipped in the spot very quickly cutting Rick off. It was obvious the guy knew what he had done because as he walked in the building with his wife and kid moving swiftly and the guy did not look back.
Now..... This situation before Rick came to know Jesus would have been a little different. He told me he would have said something to the guy and it probably wouldn't have gone well. The cool thing is Rick did exactly what we as Christians are supposed to do. Rick did not make this an ugly situation but instead kept a cool head, and while angry, opened up his Bible. There is a verse in Proverbs that jumped out at him and it was perfect. " A persons wisdom yields patience; it is to ones glory to overlook an offense " --- Proverbs 19:11.. Rick also put a note on this guy's vehicle with the verse from Proverbs on it.
Misfits! That's doing it right.. Today look up Luke 6:29 and then re-read the verse from Proverbs listed above. Although this might not be a new word for the Misfits Dictionary, it describes the above situation.

Awesomesauce  ( Aw-some-sauce )  Adjective
1) What Rick did in the parking lot. 2) Something that is better than awesome.

Monday 13 February....

Good Morning Misfits! It's the start of a new week and it looks like it is going to snow mid morning in St. Louis. Be praying MO-DOT prepared for this event better than the dusting of snow we had last month that had traffic at a standstill. We have another entry for the Misfit Dictionary and this entry is courtesy of Barry Price.

DaHood  ( Da-Hood )  Noun
1) Anywhere the Misfits for Jesus gather with any frequency. 2) Wright City, MO on Saturday nights, O'Fallon, MO on Tuesday mornings, and downtown St. Louis on Thursday evenings.

If you haven't made it for a Saturday night service in Wright City you're missing something special. I'm telling you, it's authentic and just the opposite of a big-box church service. You might be asking " what is a big box church service ? " and " what does he mean by an ' authentic ' service? " I equate a big box church service with an impersonal experience where there are so many people it's impossible to feel like you are part of a family. And the worship has a similar production value like The Who concert I saw at the old Busch Stadium in August of 1989. As far as the Saturday night service being authentic, you're going to have to come out and experience that real-time.

Friday 10 February....

In case you are not aware, the Misfits for Jesus meet at the end of O'Fallon Street near downtown St. Louis, MO every Thursday night at 6:00 pm for outreach to homeless people. There is a meal, worship, and a message brought by warriors for Jesus Christ. If you missed last night's service, below are some of the highlights of the night.

<> Rick Matteson brought a great message about the need for a good foundation in your Christian walk.  " The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. " ---- Matthew 7:25
I've known Rick almost 1 year and I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the Misfits in saying what a blessing he has been to this ministry.

<> Yesterday was Jeff Peterson's 4 year anniversary of sobriety. If you haven't heard Jeff's story about how he came to know Jesus Christ please ask him. It's a powerful testimony of the healing power of Jesus.

<> The folks from Praise Tabernacle Christian Church provided the meal and their praise team provided the worship. Thank You! and God Bless to Bishop E. Dwight Casson, Minister James Sutton, and the congregation at Praise Tabernacle for continuing to bless this ministry.

<> Marlene is a friend of the ministry and she is going back to school. That is awesome! news and we will be praying her up..

Thursday 9 February....

Misfits! Be very tuned in to what you are hearing on the radio and T.V. in the next few weeks. The way some folks are trying to justify pushing anti-Christian beliefs and practices on groups and institutions that are based on Christian principals is unacceptable and in a sad way, funny.  Be praying for God to open hearts and eyes as we start a discussion on a national level about the constitutionality of forcing Christian institutions to ignore their beliefs and conform to popular culture. So far the Catholic Church has been out front being vocal about this and I'll leave it to a prominent Catholic to break it down for the secular folks who look to polling data or popular opinion as justification of their actions...

" We must not tamper with God's word. We must strive to apply the Good News to the ever-changing conditions of the world but, courageously and at all costs, we must resist the temptation to alter its content or reinterpret it in order to make it fit the spirit of the present age." ---- Pope John Paul II

Wednesday 8 February....

Today's Verse Of The Day from the home page of this site is:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. " ---- Matthew 5:43-45

Misfits! That scripture is perfect for what seems to be happening this week. Once again the powers that be are trying to blur the lines of Christian teachings with a forced mandate regarding healthcare. Look at the verse posted below from Friday 3 February and today's Verse Of The Day above. They go hand in hand. We have to be praying for the leadership of our country, on both sides of the political aisle, to be men and women of God and make decisions that do not interfere with Christian principals and violate our constitutional rights.

Tuesday 7 February....

From time to time I've heard some odd phrases used by some of the Misfits, ** insert fake sneeze that sounds like " Randy Abbott " **, and below are 2 of the latest. Please enjoy.....

Misfidian  ( Mis-fid-ee-en )  Adjective
1) Does not exactly turn out like you thought it would.  2) Janky

Shipabibleoff  ( Ship-a-bible-off )  Noun
1) Act of shipping bibles to Pastor Ayise Moses in Uganda.  2) Club related to the Tuesday morning bible study at Cappuccino's Coffee Cafe in O'Fallon, MO. ( See Misfits Uganda tab for information about pastor Moses. )

So... I asked my 10 year old nephew a few minutes ago what would be a good part of scripture to post and he immediately responded with Philippians 2:3... And quoted it.. Misfits! Have a great Tuesday.

" Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves " --- Php 2:3

Sunday 5 February....

I just spoke to Pastor Ayise Moses in Kampala, Uganda about a crusade he is starting tomorrow morning. He is taking 20 people with him to Mbale, Uganda to preach Jesus to the people of Mbale and the surrounding villages. The trip is about 140 miles each way and please be praying for protection for the folks going on this crusade and for the people they minister to.
I will be getting updates from Pastor Moses and will be posting them on the Misfits Uganda tab of the website this next week.

" Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. " ---- Proverbs 3:5-6

Saturday 4 February....

" In everything you do, LIVE GOD LOUD " --- Chebon Holahta

--- Nuff said ---

Friday 3 February....

“These days its not just that the line between right and wrong has been made unclear, today Christians are being asked by our culture today to erase the lines and move the fences, and if that were not bad enough, we are being asked to join in the celebration cry by those who have thrown off the restraints religion had imposed upon them. It is not just that they ask we accept, but they now demand of us to celebrate it too.” --- Ravi Zacharias

Misfits! Be on guard and seek Him diligently. As Christians, we are coming under attack more and more these days and we have to know what is biblical truth and what is being taken out of context. Yesterday morning I listened to coverage of a prayer breakfast and how scripture was being taken out of context literally gave me chills. Study and know His word because that is the best defense we have to making right decisions in all areas of our life.

" Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. " --- 1 Corinthians 16:13

Monday 30 January....

The song Where I Belong by Building 429 says " All I know is I'm not home yet, this is not where I belong. Take this world and give me Jesus, this is not where I belong. "
Misfits! We are like foreign exchange students in this world. Our home is in heaven where we will be praising Him for all eternity. He has prepared a place for us in heaven ( please read John 14:1-4 ) and I don't think we have the capacity to begin to imagine how incredible that is going to be like. For the time being while we are away from home all He wants is for us to love one another, spread the good news about His sacrifice, and serve in some capacity.. We were created to praise Him and serve His purposes. Getting out there and making a difference does not have to be a grand plan that seems impossible. It can be as simple as telling someone " Jesus loves you ".

" Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. -- Hebrews 13:15-16

Sunday 22 January....

" It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. "  -- Mark Twain. Twain makes a pretty good point. As Christians we will be tempted by Satan in the most obvious and subtle ways. All Satan has to do is get us off of the mark by a degree and we will be exactly where he needs us to be. Out of focus on Him. We have to have an awesome " fight " in us to resist the distractions and persevere in our walk. God gave us a weapon that is guaranteed to guide us through the distractions and that weapon is His word. Misfits! Start your day out by spending time with Him and study His word. The more we grow the more He will be able to use us for His perfect purpose.

" But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever!
Amen. " -- 2 Peter 3:18

Saturday 21 January....

The amount of time we spend with Jesus - meditating on His Word and His majesty, seeking His face - establishes our fruitfulness in the kingdom. -- Charles Stanley

This week I got all kinds of caught up with worldly things and I neglected to make time daily to spend with Him. And I could feel it daily as the week progressed. Misfits! Be on guard because who wants us to fall into the trap of being to busy? Yep.. Satan..
Without His word we are in darkness. " Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. " Psalm 119:105

I fell off my horse this week and I'm shakin it off and getting right back on.

Speaking of horses, if I had one I would ride it down Hwy 70 today to Wright City. This evening is the 3rd Misfits Saturday Nights in Wright City. Click on the Misfits Saturday Nights tab, get the directions, and come out for a different type of service. There is going to be a great meal and great fellowship.

Sunday 15 January....

I recently saw this on Facebook.     Jesus > religion     That statement in all of its simplicity puts a spotlight on the issue of churches not teaching genuine biblical truth. ( Can I get an Amen ) We need to open wide the windows and doors of our churches and let the religion blow out. I've seen my fair share of watered-down scripture preached and the people delivering that are doing more harm than good. The make you feel good sermons, through faith you can have ANYTHING you want, hot mess taken out of context theology that liberal churches employ is enough to make your hair curl. Let's focus on Jesus and keep the main thing the main thing..

Thursday 12 January....

What a blessing the Thursday night ministry is. The conditions outside were not exactly pleasant ( maybe 17 or 18 degrees ) and God brought some folks together for a great time of worship led by Dennis and an awesome message delivered by Jeff Peterson. Week after week Jeff is on fire for Jesus and it's pretty inspiring.

This year is going to be big and I believe there is going to be a lot of growth for all of the Misfits. Speaking of growth, if you haven't clicked on the Misfits Saturday Night tab, please do so in the next few minutes and make some plans to come out to Wright City very soon..... Back to the growth this year.... Misfits!! Satan is not going to like what we are doing at all and will attack us in every way possible. We have to keep our nose in scripture, study, and be praying each other up.

" It's a fact of earthly life that when God opens the windows of heaven to bless us, the devil opens the doors of hell to blast us. When God begins moving, the devil fires up all his artillery. " --- Adrian Rogers
